Ospreys
An osprey, Pandion haliaetus, is a bird of prey, commonly referred to as a fish eagle or sea hawk. They are found everywhere in the world, near bodies of water, and they thrive in swamps.
Ospreys have a reversible outer toe, which helps them grip on to slippery swamp trees where they nest, as well as helping them grab fish. They build their nests out of sticks, which are easily available in swamps. They often dive into the water to look for fish.
Ospreys are consumers. They are also carnivores, as their meals consist largely of fish. They dive to catch fish, and they have a remarkable success rate on each of their dives. Because they are carnivourous, they are secondary consumers, and are considered at the top of the food chain.
